It’s a really good school academically but it’s lacking in many areas socially, but the students orgs still are trying to make improvements.

This school is horrible, they randomly revoked my financial aid almost a full year and a half after graduating. Even tho they approved it while going there. The parties are awful, the food is awful, it’s surrounded by crime, they treat their students like crap, 99% of the professors aren’t good and only care about their own research. GO ANYWHERE ELSE!!!

I love the diversity at University of Rochester. I came from a small town with a graduating class of under 100, so there was not much diversity. I love meeting new people with different backgrounds than me and getting to feel immersed in their cultures. I also love the rigor of academics. Although I don't love it when I am busy, I do love it when I have successfully completed a semester and have a sense of accomplishment. One thing I would change about Rochester is the number of reading days before final exams. I feel as thought 4 days after classes end and before you take the exam is too many. I would like to end class on a Tuesday and start final Exams on a Friday, rather than that Sunday.

I liked the architecture and the beautiful neat studying environments. I would like to change the thought process to the creators design and structure of creating a syllabus for any specific class.

This school is the worst decision of my life! The food here is terrible; the amount of times my friends and I have gotten food poisioning from the dinning hall is not okay. If you're looking to go to a school with a large social scene or party scene, this school is not it. The parties here are pathetic and are so bad. There is a small percentage of the school that is actually social. The academics are average but they are definitely not worth 80k a year! The students here are very racist and there is really no diversity among the student body. It's a great STEM school and has a lot of opportunties for STEM students, but if you're interested in majoring in the social sciences do not come here! There is little opportuntites for the social science students. Lastly, the area surrounding campus is so dangerous and man students have gotten robbed at gunpoint off campus.

I came in as a transfer student last year and have had nothing but an amazing experience. The course work is challenging but rewarding. The professors really are here for you and will support you. The campus is beautiful and the food is good. I live off campus so can’t say a lot about the dorms. The party scene is okay, but it is there and can be very fun. The location is not the best as there’s isn’t much to do. Over all, I love this school!

U of R is a mid-sized school on the smaller side with a ton of international students and pre-meds. It is an extremely competitive environment and very few social activities or parties. With that said, the classes are high-quality and clubs host a ton of events to keep you engaged. The city itself has some nice restaurants and we even have a college town that's quite convenient. The dining hall food is not too bad and you can use ur meal plan at Starbucks, Peets and even a sushi place. (Plus, a campus grocery store). Some of the STEM classes are extremely challenging and test-based with a lot of weed-out classes, like most schools. If you go to this school do not expect to party a ton and study very little, it's not an easy school but it is semi-worth it and you learn a lot. People say Rochester is unsafe, I do not feel that way and we have public safety everywhere near campus incase something happens. Housing is not world class but its liveable and nice. #nerdhardplayhard

University of Rochester is a decent university with a variety of opportunities if you choose to seek them out. Resources exist, but finding them can be difficult because of how many there are. If there's a will there's a way here. Many students are driven to do well, and courses can be rigorous, but you can acquire a great amount of knowledge if you immerse yourself. Food is decent, you get used to it, but make sure to look at what you eat. Safety is alright, public safety cars patrol often. Party scene is decent, if you choose to participate in it. If not, you will find your friends that like to stay in.

The University of Rochester is a very high quality school academic wise. When it comes to student living, I find myself confused. I assumed that the $60,000 I pay in tuition would be going to thing such as dorms. It is now my personal theory that in truth it goes to a secret vault underground where share holders can swim in it like Scrooge McDuck. The dorms are relatively small and old, lacking ac. Don't be surprised if you here rustling at night, thats probably just the mice crawling over your stuff. I enjoy this school(if I didn't I would have transferred) but don't expect much in terms of student living.

I like a lot of things about the school, like my peers and the classes I am taking. One thing I would want to change would be the vegetarian options on campus

I really like the fellow students and the social life here is very enjoyable. The academics are extremely rigorous, and they prepare you well, but the classes are hard and have large workloads. The disability accommodations are very lacking, unfortunately, often having to pester the office to give you what you need, and a few specific professors have documented Title 9 violations.

This school is not great when it comes to money, I’m sure that is no surprise to most as it is a private institution.
I did 4 years for undergrad as a Statistics major and I would say I had a great experience with the curriculum behind my major. The academic side of this school is tough, in a good way depending on your major. If you a are a math major or engineer major then your life is full of nothing but exams. I had a tough end dealing with these exams for Stats and math, but had a fair share of amazing projects that helped me learn a lot more. What really saved me from leaving this school on the academic side were the professors, especially for the statistics major. Most of them are amazing and extremely helpful as well as passionate about their program. I had a hard time at this University as I couldn’t maintain a balanced life. The professors I worked alongside with understood this and didn’t kick me down, they were patient. Thank you Professor Ciminelli and Professor Bautista.

As a student at the University of Rochester, my experience has been a mix of both rewarding moments and occasional challenges. The university's strong academic reputation initially drew me in, and I've found several aspects to appreciate during my time here.I appreciate the flexibility to explore interdisciplinary studies. The university encourages students to integrate knowledge from different fields, providing a well-rounded education that goes beyond traditional academic boundaries.

Although the elitist info in courses was thorough and good, it impressed me as a rape school, spoiled dishonest and rich. I was slandered. I am blacklisted for life as a result of reporting attempted rapes to admin. My abusive dr parents were alumni.

Parent here of a sophom*ore. The school has exceptional academics and beautiful riverside campus. We were especially impressed with the admissions process as the personalized outreach. For example, the acceptance letter was included comments on my student’s essay and other application details. All other school’s sent a generic form letter. There are a few recent, negative reviews that present a false impression of the administration. The student body is diverse and that includes a very vocal and disruptive element on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. Unlike various Ivy League and other universities who are taking a meek approach to protecting all students and balancing rights, UofR has actually instituted policies that achieve a fair balance between First Amendment principles and protection against hateful, violence-inciting speech. Unfortunately, this has made discontent those who think they have unfettered rights to hate and disrupt.

It is a good college for STEM students especially because of the great variety of opportunities provided. Additionally, it has a beautiful campus that is wonderful to walk around- nothing is too far and definitely walkable. The people are very kind and the diversity is immaculate. I enjoy the community there and it is very easy to find friends or make friends with a little small talk. The food is pretty decent, it can be questionable at times, but not the worst out there. Overall, it is pretty decent in my opinion.

The worst choice I made was coming here for a first semester, and here’s why:
1 - Passionless. Being a film major, I wanted to explore the film classes and clubs. One of the clubs, Cinema Group, where they talk about movies, is really just the E-Board talking to each other and rushing through slides, completely devoid of any real connection.
2 - Racism. What the hell is up with the amount of white and Asians who constantly make racist remarks? As a black person, the handful of remarks on my hair and just my race is demeaning.
3 - Upperclassmen. For the most part, the upperclassmen are disengaging. There will be some of them preaching about “Look at each other with your head up and smile” yet every time I come in a room with them, they just give me these nasty stares and don’t even talk.
4 - Public Safety. As of recent, they’ve assaulted students on speaking up for Palestine, so yeah… fun.
To keep it short, don’t come here. As of Dec 14th, I’m transferring in 6 days and I can’t wait.

School is super racist, and only cares about money. Some teachers are blatantly racist as well and administration literally targets brown and black students.
