Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta
It is rightfully one of the world’s most photographed events and makes it to the top of many RV’ers bucket list.
It is truly a beautiful sight to see hundreds of hot air balloons take off over the Sandia mountains and land each day.
The event is attended by nearly 750,000 visitors each year, many of whom come from out of town in their RVs looking for a place to stay.
We visited the hot air balloon festival in 2017 and had a fantastic experience. We were lucky to get an RV site at the fairgrounds.

Given the large numbers of visitors, RV parks fill up quickly in the area.
Using the AllStays Pro app (see post about AllStays), I identified RV parks and campgrounds within 25 miles of the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta fairgrounds.
The map below is taken from the AllStays app to show locations of the RV Parks in the Albuquerque area. The RV parks are located north, south, east, and west of the hot air balloon festival.
This list includes all RV park locations that I could identify. None are left off the list, as far as I know.
The list of RV parks provided below includes all locations within 25 miles of the Albuquerque fairgrounds.
There are numerous other places to stay in further out locations, including some on Bureau of Land Management (BLM) land for those of you who may be interested in dispersed camping during your stay. (See, for example, theIgnacio Chavez Special Management Area, the Cabezon Peak Wilderness Study Area, andDiablo Canyon Recreation Area, all maintained by BLM).
The RV parks and campgrounds are listed in order of their proximity to theAlbuquerque fairgrounds.
Some of the sites require special membership, as in the Elk Lodge, Moose Lodge, or military base. One requires a monthly rental, which may be doable or the price may be right as compared to some others that increase their prices during the hot air balloon festival.
The others are open to reservations by the general public and include private RV parks, city/county RV parks, and casinos.
The number of sites and types of hookups available are listed as well, along with the address of each location.

My advice is to reserve a site as early as possible as they fill up fast!
